I Got Love, Love, Love!

Doggone it!  I keep forgetting to update this blog.  Let’s see….what has been going on lately?????  We celebrated Ronnie’s birthday on Friday at the Longhorn Steakhouse at Beaver Creek in Apex.  Ronnie, Jeff and I went. We ran into so many “old” friends there- what a treat!  The food was good too.

Also, we are working on taxes.  I will certainly have the medical expenses to deduct this year. In addition, I have donated to Goodwill and The Guardian Angel Thrift Shop my entire closet full of clothes- literally, I have only 2 pairs of pants, and 5 shirts and 2 jackets from my original wardrobe and they are too big- (I have now lost 74 pounds in less than 4 months). A friend gave me several hand me down shirts and I went to Walmart last week and bought 2 tops and 2 pairs of pants and a 3 pack of underwear.  I really need to get back to work but we are thinking I might need to hold off until after my hernia surgery.  I would like a job working as a receptionist – somewhere that I can see people.  If any of you hear of anything, please let me know.  I would love to work at a school, hospital, doctor’s office, etc.  I had always thought that our budget wouldn’t be so tight once the kids left home, but the cost of living has increased so greatly that we have definitely not found that to be true.

I will be going up to Akron, Ohio to visit Katie and Steve on February 21st.  The Chapel is having a women’s conference and Katie is leading the worship for that- I love to worship- especially when Katie is leading- she is such a passionate leader.  The added bonuses are that I get to enjoy some spiritual refreshment and I get to visit with Katie and Steve- yay!   Along the same lines, I am enjoying Precepts bible study at Meg’s house, but I keep being reminded of how difficult and deep it is.  We are studying Obadiah and Joel and I am continually challenged by it.  Meg has asked me to help her lead the study and I certainly feel under qualified.  It challenges me to go to the Lord for guidance- exactly as I should be doing- amazing how that works, huh?  Another treat from the Lord is that Kathleen Harwood will be having a study at her house- Four Fridays in February.  She is my former Precepts teacher and she will be sharing her lectures with some of us girls as she prepares for an upcoming MOPS retreat.  I feel so blessed to be able to participate.  I will also get to spend time with some great “old” friends.

In addition to bible study, I have been enjoying crocheting in the evenings. I have completed one afghan and am half way finished with another one.  I have also been enjoying lunch with some of my girlfriends.  I have come to realize that I need my friends and can never have too many.  They make me happy!

As I celebrated Ronnie’s birthday this week, I was nudged to consider how very thankful I am that the Lord chose him to be my life partner, best friend, growing old companion, day brightener, soft place to land, cheerleader, hand holder, kitchen dancer, comforter, financial supporter, helper, coffee maker, car washer, spiritual leader, make-me-laugher, calm-me-downer, cheer-me-upper….he is exactly what I need.   I cannot imagine what these past 36 years (32+ married) would have been like without him.  I do not want to imagine one more day without him.  I like him and I love him.
