Here is an update on my health: I had a CAT scan last week and it was confirmed that I have a ventral hernia in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen. Although the doctor is willing to do the surgery to correct it now, he advised waiting until April for the most successful results (no overnight hospital stay and no complications causing him to have to do an open surgery). This will allow time for the tissue to continue to heal from my surgery in October. I am going to try to wait- the main reason I would go ahead and have it sooner is to end the pain which I experience frequently because of the tissue getting squeeze in the hernia. I am going to try to swim and attempt slow walking instead of my usual workout on the elliptical. It is difficult for me to make it all the way through the grocery store right now without experiencing incredible pain. I can’t bend over and have to be careful getting up, sneezing, coughing, reaching and straining. Ugh! I hate this—but I love the fact that my blood pressure and cholesterol levels are normal, I no longer sleep with a CPAP machine and I have lost over 60 pounds.
I am missing Katie and Steve. They were so much fun to have around. I also miss having Ronnie home during the day- he is my favorite person to be with but he must work, of course. Jeff has also returned to work and I don’t see him around much either.
I am going to attempt to crochet a granny square afghan for the den- that will keep my hands and mind busy while I am having be to more inactive. I found a great site on Youtube that shows how to make a granny square afghan- there are several- but there is one that almost makes me puke to watch it- the lady has the grossest fingernails and you can just almost smell the cigarette smoke on her. I am also going to begin reading again. Since my surgery, I have not been able to concentrate very well but I think that “skill” is returning. I have also been tracking what I eat, exercise and journal thoughts on Sparkpeople.com. If you have not discovered that website- check it out. It is a free site and is wonderful.

SuzieQ,
Just wanted to let you know I’m still here and check this blog often since I no longer get to see you two on a regular basis. I’m glad to hear some things are going well and sorry that hernia correction is so far off.
