Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go!

Yesterday we went to Greensboro to visit our parents.  Katie had not seen Ronnie’s parents since last Christmas so we felt like we had to take the opportunity to go. They were, of course, anxious to see me too- to know that I was alright.  First we visited Ronnie’s precious dad who is now in a nursing home because of cruel Alzheimer’s.  He is so adorable. He did not know who we were but was so happy to see us.  He loves to sing and we sang with him a little bit.  Then, we went to Ronnie’s mom’s house.  She was preparing to go see her husband because it was their 60th wedding anniverary yesterday.  We are so thankful that we were able to give them a grand 50th anniversary party because Oscar’s health started going downhill after that point.  After visiting Ronnie’s Mom, we went to my mother’s house.  She was in great spirits, especially considering that she will have surgery next Thursday for a cancerous growth that was found on her large intestines during a colonoscopy. They will be removing a portion of her large intestines.  We were home back home by 4pm and I was exhausted. We enjoyed spending time with Jeff and Lyndsey for a few hours.  Ronnie was busy setting up a new wireless router. Somehow, during our trip to Brazil, our router broke.  I had a great night sleep last night, other than a panic attack at 3am triggered by a self-induced “What if…” session. I woke Ronnie, he helped me get under control and I returned to a peaceful sleep once again.   Katie leaves today at 5pm to return to Akron, OH. She has been such a blessing and we will miss her terribly.

Please pray for:  elimination of panic attacks and  safe travel for Katie.  Jeff has had a terrible month- his truck has broken down and while we were gone, he had a credit card fraud of $10,000 that he is trying to work through.  Please pray for him.

  • Geez, talk about welcome back to the real world. Its interesting how we go through some experience where we depend so much on others and when we come through the “big” part of it, there’s so much we see around us that others need – intercession, advice, care, consolation. But thats the way our God loves us – shaping us into His image, then providing us with opportunity to reflect Him to others.
